De Poëzie van het bestaan
ArtEZ Press invited me to design the final publication by Jeroen Lutters before his retirement. The book combines Lutters’ essays with photography by his son, Boris Lutters. The design explores the space between a photobook and a reading book. Elements such as the format and glossy paper stock reference photographic publications, while the typography, page architecture and smaller inserted sections draw from poetry and literary books. Throughout the publication, image and text gradually drift apart. The structure becomes more fragmented as the book progresses, before finding cohesion again towards the end, mirroring the search for meaning, imagination and connection that runs through the text itself.
