Under the Ocean: Mermaid is a six-movement cello suite by composer Veronika Wu, performed by Tomoki Tai. The music is composed as a voice of the ocean: layered, slow, poetic, and at times barely audible. Listening asks for attention and time, and invites immersion. The design is built from graphic forms inspired by movements and structures of the ocean, combined with tactile paper choices that feel like a layer of the surface. The darkness of the paper, together with the light, transparent sleeve, invites the viewer to dive into the depths. A dialogue between typography, graphic form and materiality, in which the object becomes an extension of the music.
